Welcome, students and parents! This year promises to be a busy one with all the exciting and challenging things that are coming up. The SAT test is looming for juniors, and I will be doing my absolute best to prepare my students for what they will be facing in the Spring, as this test is critical to their future success in college. In addition to that, we will be reading several classic pieces that will not only broaden their knowledge of literature, but, I hope, provide a basis for an appreciation of it also. For my freshmen and sophomores in English I and English II, we will be working on the skills necessary to succeed on the SAT test as well, but with the main focus being on close and critical reading, comprehension, and grammar and writing, all while examining multiple pieces of classic fiction and drama.
Parents, please sign up for Remind101, which a text messaging service I use. By signing up, you will receive a text message from me that will let you know what homework they should be working on for that evening. I think that this is an amazing way to keep you informed of what is going on in class, and rest assured, it is private. I will not even know your number; once you subscribe, you are in the group and will receive the messages. Each class has their own specific code to enter upon subscribing, so please check out the class page for your student's class to find the instructions and code you will need to subscribe.
As we accomplish our goals this year, please know that I am here and available for you all. I am happy to answer any questions parents may have in regards to the SAT test, and of course, welcome all comments and questions pertaining to my classes.
