A little bit about me...
I am a life-long resident of St. Clair County and completed my Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University (Go Chips!) with a major in English and a minor in History. After a year of teaching, I began working on my Masters degree, and while most teachers opt for a Masters in education, I chose business. My motive was simple: diversification. So, I sought out several schools for my MBA and finally chose University of Phoenix. My program was indeed arduous but the rewards of that achievement far outweighed the efforts in the long term. In fact, I was so happy with my MBA experience that I decided to venture into teaching for University of Phoenix. I did this for seven years and absolutely loved the experience, as well as the knowledge I gained and the connections I made with students all over the country. While working at MHS and at University of Phoenix, I also found time to start my family. I now have two children - Colton (15) and Kendall (13) who also attend Memphis Community Schools, and they are my world.
Being a mother, a full-time teacher at MHS, and a part-time online professor proved to be a little much though, so I had to finally resign from University of Phoenix a few years ago. While I miss the job and the students, I am happy with my decision because I have more time to devote to my family at home and my family at MHS. This year marks my 19th year in education, all of which have been spent teaching at MHS, and I am continually grateful to be a part of not only a wonderful school, but also a wonderful community.
Outside of work, my spare time is devoted to my family. We spend our summers camping and going on whatever adventures we can find. I also LOVE to read (of course!) and am, admittedly, a shopaholic. :) We have two dogs - Bentley and Baxter. They definitely keep us busy but also keep our hearts full.
I am looking forward to this school year and hope to get to know all of you as well!
